God, our healer,
Take us into your care and heal us.
Heal our bodies and give us health.
Heal our minds and teach us truth.
Heal our hearts from all selfishness and pride.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Tuition Assistance for next school year The applications for tuition assistance have arrived from the Augustinian Education Foundation (AEF). There will be a collection in church next month and the AEF will distribute that money back to our school. In addition, our Maria Lanakila parish gives our school tuition assistance money every year. It is based on the church budget which is based on the Sunday collections. A parish committee allocates the money available for tuition assistance to those that apply. Please come in to the office and Paula will give you an application for tuition assistance. Applications can also be downloaded from the school’s website and by going online at www.augustinefoundation.org Completed applications must be turned in to the school office on or before the due date of March 9th. The parish obviously supports the excellent Catholic education we offer here, so there is no shame in asking for assistance. The money is given with unconditional love and grace.

Post-Christmas note from Ms. Lori Post-Christmas note from Mrs. Lori:
The Christmas cards have all been sent, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season has come and gone, the decorations are put away (or in the process thereof), winter break is over and classes have resumed. So now I would like to take this quiet time of opportunity to thank ALL of the parents and volunteers who gave of their time and talents in some way to help with the 2011 Christmas Pageant at Sacred Hearts School. I am most appreciative of your labors. I would like to extend special thanks to Linda Jenkins for organizing the parents (Eri Lee, Eliza Esamu, KC Hendrickson), who helped decorate the courtyard and school "hallways" along with Celeste Olson and Mary Ann Schober (and Linda Jenkins) who stayed late until every extension cord was used and every light was lit. I am most grateful to Mr. Mueller, (Noah and Christopher's dad) who worked ALL morning AND afternoon the day of the pageant, helping me set up the "spotlights." It became more of a task than I had anticipated. For sure without his help, we would have been sunk! Mahalo nui loa, danke schoen, THANK YOU! Then he even helped strike the scenery and lights after the show. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Bayudan, Mrs. Balibin (Kea'wiki's mom), Alika (Kaito's dad) as well as Mr. Mueller, Al Ulman and Mrs. Hendricks and others who helped strike the decorations. With all your help--what took an entire morning and afternoon to set up--we were able to take down in about 45 minutes. Wow! My hat's off to Ofa and his crew for setting up and stabilizing the stage and backdrop. Good work guys! Also, great mahalo to Mrs. Ronnie Pietsch for decorating the Mother Marianne Cope Hall (i.e. cafeteria) so beautifully. It was so nice teaching in such a festive scenario. If I've forgotten anyone--it is purely unintentional and know that your great or small deeds did not go unnoticed nor unappreciated. Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! Mrs. Lori P. Ulman
