PTG Board Meeting There will be a PTG Meeting this Wednesday, 10/12 at 1:30 in the 6th grade room.

Parent Teacher Conferences Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held this Friday after dismissal at 11:00 AM and Monday, 10/17 all day. These conferences are for parents only unless the teacher has requested that the student be there. If you are unsure of when your conference has been scheduled, please call the office.

First Band Meeting Wednesday, October 12th, 2011 from 1:20-2:15 pm in the Resource room. The first meeting will be a practical orientation for all 4th-8th grade band students.  We would like to place our instrument order as soon as possible, so anyone ordering an instrument must have their contract turned into the office.  We will be sending all of the rental agreements to Taylor Music at the same time to consolidate the shipping cost.  It is our hope that the instruments will be delivered by the first meeting.   If you need another contract, they are available in the office. Mr. Jason Jerome, owner of Lahaina Music, has offered a rent-to-own program for all SHS band students interested in playing the guitar.  If you have any questions or are interested in joining the band, there’s still time, call Kim Austin at 276-0547.

Health Records We are doing our annual sweep of student health records checking to see that everyone is up to date with immunizations. We are asking if your child has been to see the doctor and received any immunizations in the past year, please bring an updated copy of their health record to the school office.
If it appears that your child may be missing an immunization we will send home a notice stating so. Often the reason it looks like a student’s health record is incomplete is because we have not received an updated record from the doctor’s office. The Department of Health asks that we do this every year as immunization guidelines may change. Mahalo for your help.

Terra Nova Testing The dates for annual standardized testing for Grades 2nd – 8th are October 18th through October 27th. Please try not to schedule any doctor appointments, etc. for these dates as it can be difficult and sometimes impossible to reschedule any testing. A reminder to parents that you don’t need to be anxious about the testing with your child because it is used mainly to give a picture of how the classes are doing in specific subject areas. Still remind your child to do their very best. We ask that students get a good night’s sleep and good breakfast on those days. Homework will be minimal during these days.

Uniform Swap This Thursday, 10/12 there will be a uniform swap after school in front of the church. Bring your used uniforms (in good condition) and see if there is anything that you can use. Even if you don’t have any used uniforms to turn in you are welcome to take what you need.

BANK FOR EDUCATION The contest of all contests is back!  We have an opportunity to win $50,000 for Sacred Hearts School through the American Savings Bank, ”Bank for Education” contest.  Contest details will be revealed at a parent meeting on Thursday, October 13 in the school cafeteria from 6-7 pm.  We will also discuss ideas for cafeteria renovations at this meeting.   We hope all families will be in attendance to help us in this exciting endeavor!  Attendance is good for 2 hearts hours!!
