“What greater work is there than training the mind and forming the habits of the young.” Divini Illius Magistri, Encyclical of Pope Pius XI, 1929.
Aloha school community!
I will be quoting Catholic Church documents this year to remind us all about the importance of the sacred work we all do as parents and teachers. The Catholic Church has been supporting us for decades. The quote above is almost 100 years old! During my summer at the University of Notre Dame, I enjoyed my courses and want to share with you what I believe will support our collective efforts at Sacred Hearts School. I look forward to a wonderful year full of God’s grace in our community!
This week sped by much too fast for me. The Wed. newsletter is out to you late and I apologize. The usual day of delivery will remain on Wednesdays. I am working on keeping the weekly newsletters brief and to the point. If at any time you need clarification or elaboration on a news item please do not hesitate to call the office for your needs.
Thank you to all the parents that came out to our fun bar-b-que and star gazing night last Friday. Famous Dave’s & the Kona Shave Ice truck gave a percentage of the sales to our 6th & 7th grade students going to the east coast next year.
Thank you to Alec and Kim Austin for a new addition to our campus… the banner of inspiring scripture! I challenged the students to memorize it and in one day, Erin Tsue was the first to visit my office to recite the scripture on the gifts of the Holy Sprit! Nicole Slausser and Elizabeth James also recited the scripture by heart!
Please open and read the attached files:
1. Where In The World Did You Go This Summer?
2. Flyer on an after school Cross Country Team that is being formed by Wendy Laurel and Sarah Clark for the students. All are welcome on Thursdays, 2:15-3:00. Forms are in the office also.

At 7:00 you are excused to go home or remain for another 25-minute session with another teacher. Please come to meet the new families, meet the School Advisory Council, the PTG Executive Board and to meet your child’s teacher in their classroom.
