A big mahalo to all of the room parents for coordinating all the shade tents and treats and to the parents who helped with accounting over the 5 weeks of pledging.  All per/lap pledge cards were mailed out last week to your donors with the calculation for the actual number of laps run.  Those pledges will be accepted until the end of the month.   Friends and family have been asked to mail their payment into the school office.  If it comes to you directly, please return it to Paula in the school office.  Mahalo!!!

Jog-A-Thon

Week 3 of the Jog-A-Thon was our most exciting and profitable yet!  Just before we left on break, we challenged all of the classes to try to collect $500 (combine) over the break.  ALL of our fun and super supportive teachers agreed to HAVE THEIR HAIR DYED BLUE if their kids made it.  Congratulations to 5th, 6th, and 7th grade who all achieved this goal!  Mr. Kent, Mrs. Wurst, and Mr. Mason will be having their hair dyed blue at the assembly on October 26th (we’re waiting until after testing week).   Here are the results for the first 3 weeks combine:

ELC – $606
Kinder – $306
1st grade – $384
2nd grade – $364
3rd grade – $394
4th grade – $762
5th grade – $973
6th grade – $2,854
7th grade- $1,345
8th grade – $100

By now, YOU AND YOUR CHILD SHOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE RAISING MONEY FOR.   If you don’t, please talk to your room parent or teacher. We only have two weeks left until the big day!   ELC, 3rd and 4th grade, perhaps if your class could break $1000 this week we could dye your teacher’s hair blue too?!   (I’ll ask!)  Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 8th, your challenge is to double your money!  Let’s make this fun!!!  Whoever comes in with the highest numbers between K, 1, 2, and 8 will get a free dress day.  Room mom’s, you are welcome to create your own classroom challenge.  Please continue to encourage the kids and remember that all of the money they raise will be used for their class for fun field trips or classroom supplies.  A big mahalo to all the parents who have helped with the accounting on Fridays.    Our next count will take place on Friday, October 21 at 7:45 in the cafeteria.

Mahalo,

Jog-A-Thon 2010

Our 3rd Annual Jog-A-Thon was a huge success!

Sacred Hearts School 3rd Annual Jog-A-Thon
Thank you to all of the parents that helped with the setup, running and breakdown of last week’s jog-a-thon. We want to especially thank Joanna Stockham for her unending enthusiasm that makes these fundraisers so much fun!

The money that was raised by the students has been earmarked for each class “Signature” Field Trip. For instance, the 5th grade goes to Oahu each spring to see the Bishop Museum exhibits, Pearl Harbor, Maritime Museum, etc. The school budgets for some of the field trips such as going to the MACC but anything above that funds from the Jog-A-Thon will be used.
