It is a Sacred Hearts tradition to share our travels when we return to school after the summer break. Doing so is fun and it broadens our knowledge of geography and new cultures. The children were already asked to participate by telling where they went this summer. Their responses have been posted on the world map bulletin board in the back of the school cafeteria (Mother Marianne Cope Hall). We would love to enhance/expand this lesson by sharing pictures of the places the children and their families have been. If you have a copy of a favorite picture (your family in a far away country or at the water park on Oahu or camping on Maui’s beaches…) please submit a copy with your name and grade on the back and we will hang it on the bulletin board for all to see or help your child make a poster board with all your favorite pictures & we’ll hang that as well. The goal is to have all pictures and/or poster boards turned in before back to school night. Please encourage your kids to participate. We all benefit from knowing a little more about other people and cultures around the world. I know some families took exciting trips last spring, please include any travel experience the kids have had since last fall. We want to know “where in the world you’ve been!”
Thanks,
The P.T.G.
